Hadrians Wall: With world class archaeology, spectacular landscapes, rare wildlife, complete solitude and wonderful pubs the area offers something for everyone

Hermitage Castle: This romantic ruin, a mere 26 miles from Gretna Green is reputed to be the location of Mary Queen of Scots secret meetings with her lover.

Reiver Trail: This road route follows historic sites from the 14th to the 16th century, when the Border Reivers were raiding families on both sides of the Border.

Devils Porridge: This museum explores the WW1 munitions factory that at it's height in 1917 employed some 30,000 workers and produced 1100 tons of cordite every week.

Gretna Heritage Walk: This 4 mile walk takes around 90 minutes to complete and will take you out of Gretna onto the Solway Coast where there is an abundance of wildlife.

Annandale Distillery: Offering guided tours, nearby Annandale distillery has started producing single malt Scotch whisky after almost a 100 year sleep.

Gretna: The town of Gretna is served by a single street of shops with an excellent florist, a traditional butcher shop, a bakers shop, chemist, newsagent and convenience stores.

Gretna Gateway Outlet Village: Open 7 days a week from 10.00 am - 6.00 pm (including most bank holidays) Gretna Gateway is a shoppers paradise with something for everyone situated on the edge of town with extensive free parking and free wifi.

Carlisle: A mere 10 miles from Gretna, the walled city of Carlisle offers excellent shopping ranging from small boutiques and independent shops to large department stores and multiple retailers. It's an easy drive but there's aslo a regular bus and train service.
